Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion

This is just a quick first impression of Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion.

First off, it reminds me (superficially) of Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion.

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion

Both lotions' bottles have white bodies with red tops. Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion forms a protective barrier on the skin and keeps out irritants and chemicals. Similarly, Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion claims it protects skin from external damage and reinforces skin's protective barriers.

Body lotion protects your skin from external damage such as pollution and harsh climate changes. Eucerin Body Lotion is enriched with provitamin B5, glycerin, and pH5 buffer to deeply moisturize as it reinforces skin's protective barriers. Non-greasy formula absorbs quickly for all-day softness.

INGREDIENTS: Water, Glycerin, Cyclomethicone, Panthenol, C12 15 Alkyl Benzoate, Polyglyceryl 3 Methylglucose Distearate, Shea Butter, Cetyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Stearate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Sodium Polyacrylate, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Methylisothiazolinone, BHT

The only ingredients that Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion and Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion share are Water and Phenoxyethanol. And I'm definitely not wowed by the Eucerin Body Lotion's ingredients.

I tried out the Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion tester in Walgreens. The lotion absorbed quickly so there was no slippery film greasing up my hands. That's like the only positive thing I have to say about it.

The bottle states "Lightly Fragranced," but I disagree. It has an annoying, generic, perfumey smell. Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion is fragrance-free, which I love! It seems backwards for Eucerin to put fragrance in a lotion meant to strengthen skin's protective barriers, given that fragrance is often a skin irritant.

So, Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion is not something I would buy. It has an artificial-smelling fragrance and its ingredients are nothing special. I have trouble believing this "fortifies" or "reinforces" skin any more than your average cheapie drugstore lotion, especially since so many drugstore lotions have formulas that are way more advanced than this one.

Anyone else try out Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion?
