My Weight in Water

According to this Drinking Water article, I take my weight in pounds, divide it by two, and that's the number of ounces of water per day that I need to drink. I weigh around 106 pounds, so that's 53 ounces of water. I need to drink about seven cups of water a day.

... Yeah, I don't drink anywhere near that amount. I need to really try to do that.

MayoClinic: How much water should you drink every day?

One thing I've been doing is drinking more hot tea. When I have a cup of hot something-or-other in front of me, I drink it before it goes cold. When I have a cup of cold water in front of me, it can sit there for hours and I'll barely touch it. So drinking tea helps me get closer to my goal of 7 cups of water a day.

Do you have any tricks you use to drink more water?

Quick Thoughts on Vaseline Sheer Infusion with Stratys-3™

I was surprised this wasn't in the same Allure Magazine article that mentioned Dove Body Wash with NutriumMoisture. To me it seems like this is a sister product (in terms of what they claim to do). I would've liked to read Allure's beauty breakthrough writeup of Stratys-3™.

I'd been trying out Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash with NutriumMoisture, and it seems like Vaseline Sheer Infusion would go hand-in-hand with that, but I'm not going to be buying the Vaseline lotion.

Vaseline Sheer Infusion Body Lotion, Botanical Blend Vaseline Sheer Infusion Body Lotion, Vitamin Burst Vaseline Sheer Infusion Body Lotion, Mineral Renewal

Vaseline Sheer Infusion has three formulas, and each of the three formulas has its own unique scent. None of them will go well with any fragrances I wear. Also, I have sensitive skin, and I prefer a serious skin-fixer to be fragrance free. That way I can still use it when it when my skin is having an irritation-fest. What good is Stratys-3™ if it's in a product that I can't use when my skin needs it most?

Plus, if this stuff is so great for skin on the body, shouldn't it also be awesome for skin on the face? I'd really like to see a lotion with Stratys-3™ that's safe for facial use.

Vaseline should consider removing the parabens from their Sheer Infusion line, since the whole point of this lotion is to sink deeper into skin and that's exactly what we don't want parabens doing.

Vaseline Sheer Infusion with Stratys-3™ Ad

So, I'll love it if Vaseline releases a paraben- and fragrance-free face-and-body lotion for sensitive skin. As is, the Sheer Infusion line doesn't have what I'm looking for in a moisturizer. I'll stick with my Skin MD Natural Face, Hand & Body Shielding Lotion.

When Vaseline releases Sheer Infusion with Stratys-3™ Unscented for Sensitive Skin, I'll be first in line to buy a bottle.

FedEx: Are You Paying for Quality of Service?

FedEx's customer service has been like nonexistent. And they've been throwing a tantrum ever since they lost a package.

It was like seven months ago. My SO bought something on Ebay. He had a tracking number and kept any eye on it. We went out grocery shopping one day, came back, and found a note on the door from FedEx. There was no package on the doorstep. According to the tracking status, it had been delivered.

My SO called up FedEx to find out what was going on. They said the driver wasn't around but they'd get him to call back. No one called back. My SO called FedEx again the next day, and he just kept getting the same runaround every time he called. FedEx wouldn't let him file a missing package claim because he wasn't the sender.

My SO never got the package, never found out what happened to the package, and he never got his money back.

Ever since then, FedEx has had the worst service ever. Me and my SO live with two other people, so that's four people who all receive packages from FedEx who are getting the silent treatment.

FedEx no longer knocks on the door or rings the doorbell when leaving packages. They used to, but now they don't. We've gone outside at night to find a package sitting on the doorstep. God only knows how long it'd been there; we had been home all day and never heard so much as a footstep.

We've also gone outside and found a package with a note taped to it. Yes, that's right, that note they usually tape to the door: it was taped to the package itself. What good is that? I mean, why even bother? Doesn't that defeat the entire purpose of leaving a note?

FedEx's response? The driver isn't required to knock or ring the doorbell. It's also not a requirement to tape the note to the door; he can put the note wherever he wants, including on the package.

So, we get no notice that a package has been delivered. We get no note on the door. We have no idea if we receive a package or if a package goes missing.

I'd recommend everyone avoid sending any packages via FedEx. Seven months of this awful service and no one at the company even cares. I know all delivery services have their problems, but this is just so unbelievably petty.

It's bad enough they lost a package and didn't do anything about it. Now it's like they're trying to make sure as many of our packages as possible go missing or get stolen. How is that for customer service?

According to FedEx they're not doing anything wrong, but their behavior seems questionable at best. They don't have to bother keeping customers happy; they're too big and too ingrained for it to matter. The money they get from this house is pennies and if they lose our business it's inconsequential. We can't complain to anyone that could really do anything because as long as FedEx delivers the package they've done their job.

Am I asking too much here, wanting to receive my packages? I mean, that's the point of FedEx, right? To be faster, better, and more expensive than UPS and USPS? Are people who send packages to this house via FedEx getting their money's worth? Are they getting what they paid for?

Cat in a Box
ending this post on a cute note =^. .^=

I encourage any responses to this, whether you're answering any of the above questions, commenting on my rant, or leaving your own stories about FedEx, UPS, or USPS.

Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion

This is just a quick first impression of Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion.

First off, it reminds me (superficially) of Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion.

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion

Both lotions' bottles have white bodies with red tops. Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion forms a protective barrier on the skin and keeps out irritants and chemicals. Similarly, Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion claims it protects skin from external damage and reinforces skin's protective barriers.

Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion

Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion

Body lotion protects your skin from external damage such as pollution and harsh climate changes. Eucerin Body Lotion is enriched with provitamin B5, glycerin, and pH5 buffer to deeply moisturize as it reinforces skin's protective barriers. Non-greasy formula absorbs quickly for all-day softness.

INGREDIENTS: Water, Glycerin, Cyclomethicone, Panthenol, C12 15 Alkyl Benzoate, Polyglyceryl 3 Methylglucose Distearate, Shea Butter, Cetyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Stearate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Sodium Polyacrylate, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Methylisothiazolinone, BHT

The only ingredients that Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion and Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion share are Water and Phenoxyethanol. And I'm definitely not wowed by the Eucerin Body Lotion's ingredients.

I tried out the Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion tester in Walgreens. The lotion absorbed quickly so there was no slippery film greasing up my hands. That's like the only positive thing I have to say about it.

The bottle states "Lightly Fragranced," but I disagree. It has an annoying, generic, perfumey smell. Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion is fragrance-free, which I love! It seems backwards for Eucerin to put fragrance in a lotion meant to strengthen skin's protective barriers, given that fragrance is often a skin irritant.

So, Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion is not something I would buy. It has an artificial-smelling fragrance and its ingredients are nothing special. I have trouble believing this "fortifies" or "reinforces" skin any more than your average cheapie drugstore lotion, especially since so many drugstore lotions have formulas that are way more advanced than this one.

Anyone else try out Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Skin-Fortifying Body Lotion?

Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash with NutriumMoisture

This stuff is supposed to be da bomb. I've been using it for a couple months or so... and I'm not seeing it.

A lot of people also love Dove Beauty Bar (including my SO). I've tried using it a couple times, but it dries out my skin and makes me itchy. I don't know why.

Learn More About Dove Beauty Bar:

For a while I used body washes for acne (pHisoderm anti-blemish body wash; JASON Natural Tea Tree Oil Satin Soap - yes, it's for hands and face, but I have sensitive skin and this is a huge bottle). Then I read about big beauty breakthroughs in Allure magazine, and it talked about how Dove with NutriumMoisture was this totally amazing thing. So yeah, reading that a product is a scientific breakthrough can influence me to buy it. I know, I'm weak.

So, I got Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash with NutriumMoisture. It's supposed to replenish lipids lost during cleansing and penetrate deep down to moisturize.

Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash with NutriumMoisture

INGREDIENTS: Water, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil or Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauric Acid, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Sodium Isethionate, Tallow Acid or Palmitic Acid, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Lauryl Alcohol, DMDM Hydantoin, Tetrasodium EDTA, Etidronic Acid, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance, Pentaerithrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, BHT.

I like that it's unscented. It's very creamy and doesn't seem to irritate my skin. Is it a miracle in a bottle? Not that I can tell. My skin is still itchy sometimes after I step out of the shower (I had that problem before I switched to Dove with NutriumMoisture). So the body wash doesn't cause any problems, but I haven't seen it fix any, either.

Maybe it's the frog in the frying pan thing. I'll stop using it and see if I notice any changes.

By the way, Dove's bottles are very thoughtlessly designed. The narrow, curved top makes it impossible to store the bottle upside down. Dove likes to make thick, moisturizing formulas which are great but require upside down storage. They need to seriously rethink their packaging: it's designed for style without any consideration for consumers' needs.

Unless the Dove with NutriumMoisture turns out to do amazing things for my skin, the inconvenient packaging alone is enough to keep me from repurchasing.
